U.S. President trump said on Friday that he had instructed the Treasury to prepare a second round of anti epidemic stimulus checks for American families, but accused people of delaying the direct payment.
trump wrote on social media: “I have instructed the Treasury Secretary, Mr. mnuchin @ Steven mnuchin1, to prepare to issue cheques to all Americans for $3400 for a family of four. This is being delayed! ”
both parties in the United States support sending another $1200 in cash to each American citizen and an additional $500 for children, which means a family of four can get up to $3400, which is almost the same as the first check.
trump said at a White House press conference: “I’m waiting for approval.” He clarified that he did not intend to act unilaterally on stimulus measures.
Trump’s comments come as White House officials and people have been locked in a deadlock for weeks over the fourth round of the epidemic relief plan. The impasse over the bail-out bill appears likely to last for weeks, or even into September.
the two sides said on Thursday that after six days of no face-to-face talks, an agreement is still far from reaching. One of the biggest sticking points for both sides is the cost of the proposal. The house of Representatives passed about $3 trillion in May, while Senate Republicans passed about $1 trillion at the end of July. The trump administration last week rejected a $2 trillion compromise proposed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
trump said he was also ready to ask the Ministry of Finance and the small business administration to restart the paycheck protection program, a $670 billion fund designed to keep small businesses hit hard by the epidemic and avoid mass layoffs.
