Islamabad, August 9 (Xinhua) Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Bureau released a report on the evening of the 9th that more than 60 people were killed and many others were injured in Pakistan after heavy rainfall in the past three days.
according to the report, 25 people died in Khyber Pashtun Province in the northwest of Pakistan, 12 in Sindh province in the south, 8 people in each province in eastern Punjab and Balochistan in the southwest, and 10 deaths in Gilgit bertistan region in the north. The dead included at least 19 children and nine women.
according to the report, floods triggered by heavy rainfall destroyed four bridges, causing partial or complete damage to more than 300 houses and disrupting roads in hundreds of villages.
according to a statement issued by the information bureau of the three services of Pakistan on the 9th, the Pakistani military has sent officers and soldiers to the disaster area to assist in the rescue work, transfer the people trapped by the flood, and provide the victims with necessary medical and food.
according to local media reports, the recent heavy rainfall has also caused urban waterlogging in Karachi, the capital of Sindh province, and Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, which has seriously affected residents’ lives.
