Kunpeng frequently arranges ecological innovation center to support 90% of domestic software in three years

One year after Huawei announced that it would join Kunpeng ecology and enter the intelligent computing industry, Kunpeng ecological computing industry has delivered a new report card driven by upstream and downstream enterprises. Recently, the Kunpeng ecological partnership conference was officially held. Qiu Lei, COO of Guangzhou’s “Kunpeng + shengteng” Ecological Innovation Center, told interface news that so far, Kunpeng has adapted more than 2000 products and more than 2000 solutions. Kunpeng in a narrow sense refers to the server chip developed by Hisilicon and based on ARM architecture. It is the underlying computing platform supporting it system. Based on Kunpeng processor, a whole industrial chain including PC, server, database, storage, operating system, etc. is slowly being built. < p > < p > as an important participant in Kunpeng ecology, Huawei announced last year that it plans to invest 3 billion yuan in the next five years to develop Kunpeng industrial ecology. An important part of this is to set up ecological innovation centers in various places to support the implementation and layout of the whole computing ecology in the region. < p > < p > in May this year, the “Kunpeng + shengteng” Ecological Innovation Center was officially established in Guangzhou, mainly covering South China. Up to now, Kunpeng has reached cooperation with Changsha, Nanjing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Guizhou and other places, opening 18 ecological innovation centers to cultivate the local computing industry ecology. < p > < p > the computing industry is highly dependent on ecology. Take Intel, which has a high market share, as an example. 90% of the mainstream operating systems, compilers, middleware and even application software in the market are based on Intel’s x86 architecture. The cost of migrating code is not low, which is why Intel has long dominated the market. < p > < p > based on ARM architecture, Huawei spent 20 billion yuan to develop Kunpeng chips and chipsets, and officially announced its entry into the intelligent computing industry last year. < p > < p > Huawei’s contribution to Kunpeng’s computing industry can be summarized as “one cloud, two wings, two engines + open ecology”. Among them, “dual engine” refers to Kunpeng (general computing) and shengteng (AI Computing) two series of processors, “one cloud” refers to Huawei cloud, and the two wings refer to intelligent computing, intelligent data and storage. < p > < p > as an intruder in the mature market, Kunpeng ecology is not as mature as Intel. Therefore, it is necessary to go through a difficult ecological construction to attract more developers. < / P > < p > it’s hard for any company. From the perspective of talents, computer students all over the country have learned the underlying technology of foreign products since childhood, while Kunpeng’s goal is to replace this mature IT system, which requires a high cost of time and money. < p > < p > in order to cultivate Kunpeng industrial talents, Huawei released fertile soil plan 2.0 last year, announcing an investment of US $1.5 billion in the next five years to help developers carry out technological and commercial innovation based on Huawei’s products, platforms and APIs. Recently, Huawei and eight universities have launched the Kunpeng ecological talent program in Guangdong, aiming to tap more developers for the ecological construction of Kunpeng in Guangdong and its surrounding areas. Under the background of new infrastructure construction, all walks of life have to undergo digital transformation, which puts forward higher requirements on the performance, power consumption, cost and application development of computing chips. For Kunpeng, the intelligent computing industry not only means huge commercial interests, but also, to a certain extent, is also a precaution to avoid “neck sticking”. The goal of Kunpeng is to create a real open source platform around the future computing industry and achieve real independent innovation. Qiu Lei told interface news that he hoped 90% of domestic software would run on Kunpeng in the next three years. To achieve this goal, Kunpeng faces many challenges. For example, how to meet the diversity of applications, the use habits of developers and their own business needs, how to more easily migrate the application to Kunpeng. To this end, Kunpeng also launched a series of developer tools to further facilitate developers to complete the migration without changing too much application code. < / P > < p > the innovation center takes on the role of radiating regional enterprises, such as helping ecological partners to use test resources for free for adaptation, migration and optimization, and providing corresponding migration tools, knowledge services and community services to help partners save migration costs. In July this year, Huawei held a Kunpeng application innovation competition in Guangzhou, attracting more developers to join Kunpeng ecological construction through bonus incentive. < / P > < p > so far, Guangzhou “Kunpeng + shengteng” Ecological Innovation Center has connected more than 300 ISV soft ecological enterprises, and the software products and solutions of 80 enterprises have been adapted on Kunpeng resource pool. Nationwide, Kunpeng has cultivated more than 800 partners, mainly in government, finance, telecommunications and other industries. < / P > < p > “adaptation is only the first step of the Long March, that is, everyone can run on Kunpeng, but the real ease of use still needs to be tested by the market. Only when it is easy to use, customers will really pay for it.” Qiu Lei said that the innovation center will gradually make breakthroughs in various industry refinement scenarios and do a good job in performance tuning from the bottom chip to the upper application.
