Israel closes major commercial ports and stops fuel delivery to the city

Israel said on Thursday it would stop sending fuel to Gaza in return for the launch of burning balloons by the Palestinian people. < p > < p > it is reported that dozens of helium balloons containing burning materials have been launched in recent days in order to force Israel to relax its blockade of the territory. The balloons burned down large tracts of farmland along the Israeli border. “As the other side continues to launch burning balloons into (Israel) from the Gaza Strip, disrupting security and stability, fuel transportation has stopped,” the defense ministry said in a statement Israel earlier closed major commercial ports in Gaza and narrowed the area that allows Palestinian fishing. Fawzi Barhoum, a spokesman for Hamas, called the measure “a serious act of aggression” and would deepen the economic difficulties in Gaza. The suspension of fuel transportation could shut down the only power plant in Gaza and lead to further blackouts, said Mohammad thabet, an official with the main power distribution company in Gaza. < / P > < p > most of the energy demand in Gaza depends on Israel. Its two million people now have access to about six hours of electricity, followed by 10 hours of blackout.
