Iran: the isolation suffered by the United States is unprecedented, and we should learn from the failure

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on social media that in the 75 year history of the United Nations, the isolation faced by the United States is unprecedented, in response to the UN Security Council’s failure to adopt a draft resolution to extend the arms embargo against Iran proposed by the United States, Iran’s official news agency, ILNA, reported on the 15th. Despite lobbying and pressure, the United States has only one country’s support. Last night, Iran’s aggressive diplomacy and the legal effect of its nuclear agreement defeated the US plot once again in the UN Security Council. After that, Mousavi again wrote that the international community once again made a clear voice, rejecting the rash and futile attempt of the United States to undermine the credibility of the UN Security Council. The U.S. regime should learn from this total failure and not continue to be disgraced at the United Nations, or it will be more seriously isolated. The UN Security Council will vote on the draft resolution proposed by the United States in writing on the 13th. The voting results on the 14th showed that: 2 votes in favour of the draft resolution, 2 votes against it, and 11 abstained. The draft resolution was not adopted. It is reported that the United States and Dominica voted for it, Russia and China voted against it, and 11 other security council members abstained. According to the Iran nuclear agreement signed in 2015, Iran promised to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran. The UN Security Council then adopted resolution 2231 to approve the Iran nuclear agreement and decided to maintain the UN arms embargo against Iraq until October 18, 2020. In May 2018, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement, and then restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iraq. The draft resolution proposed by the United States attempts to extend the arms embargo on Iraq indefinitely until the Security Council makes a new resolution to lift the embargo.
