Andy Haldane, chief economist at the Bank of England, said the UK economy is expected to recover rapidly from the covid-19 crisis. Haldane said economic growth is expected to exceed 20% in the second half of this year. He said strong consumer spending had helped the UK recover some of the losses. The British Chancellor of the exchequer, Rishi sunak, has previously called on Londoners to return to work and help boost London’s economic growth by patronizing local bars, shops and restaurants. Data released this week showed the UK economy fell more than 20 per cent in the second quarter.
