Boeing will make a second round of layoffs

David Calhoun, chief executive of Boeing, recently issued a new memorandum announcing that the company will cut costs through a new round of layoffs. This round of layoffs is Boeing’s second round of layoffs in the form of voluntary resignation, involving employees of civil aircraft, service department and its operation departments. The first round of layoffs was completed on July 31, cutting about 19000 employees worldwide, including Washington state. Boeing’s share price has fallen 47% so far this year, and Calhoun said it could take several years for Boeing to recover from the business downturn caused by the fatal crash of the Boeing 737 Max and covid-19.
