Beirut explosion “internal audit”: several current and former ministers will be cross examined

According to Lianhe Zaobao on August 12, a judicial official in Lebanon said on Wednesday (12) that a prosecutor would cross examine several current and former ministers in connection with the bombing in Beirut port. “The trial will begin with Ghazi al Aridi, the former Minister of public works,” said the judicial official, who declined to be named < / P > < p > the official explained: “if one of the ministers in question is found to have shortcomings or omissions, the judiciary will have to declare that it has no right to sue them.” After that, the chief prosecutor has to transfer his files and relevant evidence to Congress, because the jurisdiction belongs to the special committee responsible for prosecuting the minister and the president. The official said the public works minister, Najar, who is currently serving as a caretaker, will also be questioned in the next few days. Several former public works ministers, current and former finance and justice ministers will also be cross examined.
